Last year I came up with a list of resolutions and checked in at 3 points during the year to update you on my progress with those goals. I only fulfilled 50% of them, so I guess I have some work to do...not to mention the fact that I have new things that I'd like to achieve in the '06.
By now I'm sure you're well aware of my constant battle with the bulge, so you know getting in shape will always be on my list. I read an interesting article today in A.M. New York that says if you take a week off from a workout, then it will take you an extra week to get back on track. If you take 3 weeks off, then you'll need 3 weeks to get back on track, etc. Geez...I have a long way to go.
I'm also back on the Bible deal, cause I was slacking on that last year. Rick is helping me out though. He reminds me to say grace before meals...you'd think I'd know that right? But I guess I've been kinda closeted about my faith. Like if I'm in Burger King, I won't say grace over my whopper junior...but I should and he reminds me about that. So I'll keep working on it.
I want to learn Spanish this year also. I took a couple classes while I was in college, but I feel like I need to get with it if I'm going to be professionally competitive (and for my own personal progress). It's only a matter of time before the local newsstand starts selling "Hoy!" alongside "The Daily News" and I want to be ready.
I'm feeling inspired from last year's excursion to Las Vegas. Even though it was a solo trip, I'm glad that I finally got a much-needed vacation. I promise myself at least one vacation per year from now on. I'm not sure where I'll end up this year, or who's coming with me, but once that vacation time on the new job kicks in, I'm OUT. (Suggestions are welcome)
On the money front- I did pretty well with my savings goals last year. I opened a 401K and actually put money in it. Lol. I want to keep going with that this year, but also save for a house. I've outlined a plan that will have me eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches all year (practically), but I'll save a ton of $. Seems to contradict the vacation plans, but we'll see.
To whom much is given, much is required- That was the motto of my junior high school and sadly, I did not live up to it in 2005. 2005 was kind of "all about me". Back in the day I was always involved in some kind of volunteer project or community service activity and I've gotten away from that. In light of all that's happened (Katrina, Rita, tsunami and other disasters), I feel like I definitely need to be making more of a contribution to society. I'm not sure what project I will undertake, but I have to do something. I would love to do Habitat for Humanity but they have a waiting list a mile long. I did the soup kitchen thing in 2004...could go back to that? I might try the pro bono law thing this year...use my powers for good instead of evil? *muahahahaha* I'm open to suggestions.
Good luck with your reVolutions.

New Year's ReVolutions
Dee's two cents:
re grace in burger king
grace or no grace, what are you doing in burger king? If you're going to eat unhealthy, do it right--go to burger heaven or some other SERIOUS burger joint.
as for your resolutions--good luck, cause I think you might really do it.
