Fashion Forward

For months, I lived in PA without much to talk about in the way of fashion. No sooner do I return to NYC than I get attacked by the latest groupie trend. Is there any woman in Brooklyn (besides me) who is NOT sporting the "uniform" (or some variation thereof) this season?

When I say uniform, I'm referring to the short sport jacket or blazer, with the tight jeans, oversized belt (preferrably metallic-looking) and the mid-calf to knee-high cowboy or bavarian boots ensemble that has taken over Brooklyn.

When I first got home I noticed someone wearing the outfit and I thought "cowboy boots? When the hell did those become fashionable?" But the sista was wearing it well and I said "hmm...I am feeling that look". Not that I'm one to chase trends, mind you. Since I'll be having a real job for once and I will have to (finally, regrettably) put aside my comfortable college gear...I'm a little more interested in what folks are wearing.

I noticed a couple more females with the cowboy boots. O...k. Then I noticed that females were going out in groups...like 3 or 4 at a time, with the same outfit on, just different colors. Or maybe one girl had a sport coat on and the other had a track jacket with knee high boxing sneakers. Yuck.

It's a cute look, I think..... but it loses appeal when everyone's doing it. And do guys really find it sexy when 3 girls are out "on the town" and wearing complementary outfits?

Blogger Miz JJ's two cents:

I was in Miami and I saw girls rocking ensemble outfits all the time. I once saw three girls walking down the street wearing the same t-shirt that said "Forget milk. Got real estate?" At least the men know what they are getting. Someone who is going to run to their girls to discuss every single thing.

Blogger Ananse's Web's two cents:

I have to admit I like the cowboy boots but them other boxing things are NOT cute to me at all

Blogger Dee's two cents:

Wow, I have missed this trend entirely. But I guess here in the Bronx, we're not very stylish. It's last years pointy shoes for us.

Blogger Inside Man's two cents:

I've intentionally waited for this blog to get old so I could say the first blazer and boots are a good look (I like it). It's something I would buy for wifey. I buy clothes for her whenever I believe I'm above the fashion curve.

Thanx!......
