the countdown
And so it continues......by this time on Sunday I should be somewhat settled into my new place in PA. :-o.
I am trying to plan some sort of get-together with my friends before I leave, but it seems like there's too much to do and too little time to do it :-(. Maybe I'll just have an "after the bar housewarming" later on....when I find my own place.
In other news:
What is the world coming to when there's a site out there called www.realestniggas.com ? I'm all for freedom of speech, but geez. I guess the net is "the great equalizer"....and "thugs need love too".

road rules
I've spent alot of time on the highway in the past week because of the apartment search in NJ/PA. For the most part, it's been routine driving and traffic. Occasionally, there were some wackos on the road who insisted on honking incessantly or weaving in and out of traffic...but generally everyone behaved.
I have definitely had my share of scary driving on regular streets though. While I'm not one to pull a gun on anyone who cuts me off, I will curse loudly or suck my teeth (in the safety and privacy of my car). For the more adventurous drivers out there, I introduce: ROAD RAGE CARDS. The cards have quick, offensive, easy-to-read messages on them. For instance, If someone cuts you off, just flash the F U sign at them. I think the cards are hilarious...although I'd never actually use them. Check them out:

at last
I'm back from another hiatus. I spent this week apartment hunting (actually going to the places in NJ and PA), doing some studying, catching up with friends, and trying to straighten things out with my job-to-be.
Despite the fact that I have no interest in environmental law or NJ, I am very excited about this job all of a sudden. Sometime between filling out the mountain of paperwork (so I can be added as an employee) and taking my I.D., it dawned on me that this is my first full-time job since 2001. It's like back to real life again. Cool. Finally, I will be able to give two real gifts: #1- a new TV for my Dad. He watches alot of TV, but if he gets up to bang the living room set one more time, I'm going to throw it out the window! #2- I'm not sure what it is yet, but my older brother will be 21 in March, and I want to do something really nice for him instead of the usual Red Lobster/pizza b-day dinner that we usually do. I've contemplated taking him out for a drink :-o but since I gave that up, I wouldn't want to introduce him to it. *Trying to be a responsible adult*
Meanwhile, back at the ranch....
Someone I know once told me that eating sweet things before bed gives you nightmares. I used to think that was an old wive's tale. After all...what do sweets have to do with nightmares?
Last night...after a healthy helping of gummy bears and graham canyon frozen yogurt [(graham-flavored frozen yogurt with peanut butter cups (btw, I pick out the cups))---and YES, I brushed my teeth before I went to bed---] I had a nightmare. :-O.
It wasn't the "Freddy Kruger" variety. It was something pretty frightening to me though:
In the dream, I was driving a car on the highway with 3 friends. We were harassed (sp) by a 77-year old woman in another car. She kept honking her horn and making obscene gestures. Eventually she sped off. Somewhere down the road, we saw her in a parking lot. My friend was driving the car at this point and we all agreed that she should run over the 77 y.o. lady and drive away. Unfortunately, she was driving too fast and the lady died when she got hit. We were stunned....we got out and took her body. We buried it somewhere and then moved on.
Turns out that she was a politician's grandma, so there was a thorough investigation. My friends and I were 4 out of 10 people on the list of suspects. Another of our friends was the prosecutor assigned to the case. She (unethically) kept us apprised of new developments in the case. The most severe possibility was death. We would all be disbarred.
Through it all, I kept thinking "my mom is gonna beat me if she finds out what happened."
That was a strange thought. I felt very paranoid and panicky.....my mind raced as I thought of who I could possibly pay off to avoid the sentence; and worse yet: what if I tried to pay someone off and I got caught? Even more trouble.
Fortunately, my mom called and woke me up. I think I would have lost it if I had to keep thinking about being on trial for murder.

Friday Fashion
In my absence, I've had a request from an anonymous reader looking for Friday Fashion. Hey anonymous, thanks for coming. I'm glad that you've enjoyed Friday Fashion thus far. I will continue it (with fuzzy boots as per your request), but I have to point out one thing: Friday Fashion will only be on Fridays...so if you look for it on Tuesday, it won't be here. Maybe there can be another Tuesday topic (that would encourage me to write more regularly).
Now on to Fuzzy boots:
I think the Viking/Bavarian boot look is kinda cute, but I have to admit that people are getting overboard with it. I saw a woman on the train the other day with these mid-calf boots that had long, shaggy fur on them. The fur seemed to spill out of the boot and almost reach the soles. Pity I didn't have my camera phone with me. She looked like she was wearing 2 mini "lassie" dogs....and let's not even talk about the people with the stiletto fur boots....stiletto fur boots are a testament to one fact: not everything stiletto is sexy.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going off to hunt in my fur boots.
"The proper way to wear a black labrador" (that's a joke for you PETA people)

Taking my cue from other blogger friends, I've decided to switch my template up a little....let's have some light in this place. lol. From black to blue. We'll see how that works out.
