Patience is a virtue

Is it just me, or do people become less patient as they get old(er)? I find that a certain family member ("FM") has become increasingly impatient over time. Exhibit A:

FM: Can you go to the basement and get me a lightbulb?
Me: OK, I'll go down just now
FM: *muttering less than a minute later* if I want anything done around here, I guess I have to do it myself.

*FM races to the stairs and I race after her*
Me: I was on my way! I just wanted to finish this last bite of cereal. *Sighs*
FM: As usual, nobody does anything I say.
Me: *thinking WTF is she talking about?!*

Exhibit B:
FM: *examining the laundry that was hung on the line to dry* I guess if I don't pick up the clothes, nobody else will do it
Me: Umm....no....I just put the clothes to dry a little while ago. Didn't get to check on them yet.
FM: *pulls clothes off the line* Well here, take these upstairs.

So I take the clothes upstairs only to find that they're still damp and have to go back downstairs..guess who has the pleasure of spreading them on the line again?

The scary thing is...I know I'm already impatient (although not to this degree). Is this what I have to look forward to in my "golden years"?

Blogger Dee's two cents:

hmmm Roseann I too hope you don't become like that--but maybe it's fun to be impatient when nobody can argue with you (as you seem to aim to please this family member). I sometimes enjoy indulging in a few choice morsels of impatience. Too bad you have to take the brunt of it in the scenario you describe.
